I’m curious how the author is going to extend this into a sequel. I do have one concern, though- the conflict was resolved pretty neatly by the end of the book. There was nothing glaringly wrong with the storyline, but there was nothing outstanding about it either. It felt fairly standard for a fantasy novel- intro to characters, the Big Bad Villain is released, characters must work together to stop them while bonding along the way. I don’t have much to say about the plot of this book. I’m going to be reviewing this book entirely by its own merits since I can’t yet make my own decision about whether or not those merits were lifted from another series. I’m going to preface this review by saying that, as I have not read A Darker Shade of Magic (though I’m planning to! Soon! Hopefully!) I cannot comment on the allegations of plagiarism that Nocturna has received.
